Guest Speaker - Richard Bell

Richard Bell has spent his life in the film industry. Starting in London as a music video producer for acclaimed photographer Anton Corbijn, he has worked in most continents making films, commercials and music videos. As well as producing Richard shot projects for National Geographic, Red Bull and other corporate clients. He now directs, shoots, produces and edits in Christchurch for his own production company Shuriken. He has worked with some of the largest names in rock music, producing and making videos, films and concert projects from U2 to Johnny Cash, through to Nirvana and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Internationally, he has produced numerous award-winning music videos, including the MTV Best Alternative Video in 1993 and received two Kodak awards in NZ for directing music videos for The Phoenix Foundation. He has directed, shot and produced various short films that have been shown around the world. His commercials have seen him shooting in places as diverse as New York and Rome. He currently teaches filmmaking at the New Zealand Broadcasting School and teaches Screen Acting at Hagley Theatre Company.
